Topic - Off with Her Head!

This project teaches children about life in Tudor England and the powerful figures who shaped this dramatic period of history. We will explore the reign of the terrifying Tudors, discovering what it was like to live and work at the royal court, where music, dancing, and grandeur often went hand in hand with danger and downfall. As part of our learning, we will investigate famous Tudor monarchs, including Henry VIII, and uncover the stories behind his wives and the events that led to their fates. For our Stoke-on-Trent link, we will explore how Tudor history is remembered locally by visiting Ford Green Hall and taking part in a range of workshops relating to the Tudor Period. . We will find out how life in Tudor times compares to life in our area today. In English, we will write a biography about Henry VIII and we will create a riddle about the famous monarch.

Science - Living things and their habitats

Over this half term, children will learn to describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect, and a bird, identifying the key stages of development for each and recognising how these life cycles vary across different groups of animals. They will also explore the life process of reproduction in both plants and animals. Through practical investigations, discussions, and observations, pupils will deepen their understanding of how life begins, grows, and changes over time.

PE

PE is every Monday and Thursday during this half term.  Children can wear their PE kits on PE days to reduce congestion and close proximity in the areas used for changing.  If possible, please don't let children wear earrings on PE days.

Home Learning

Reading

We ask that children read at home regularly at home. Children can read independently, to an adult, or to a sibling. Please ensure reading diaries are signed at least two times a week.

Maths/English

Children need to be practising times tables regularly at home, they can use TT Rockstars to help. Children also need to be using Bedrock at home to help with their grammar. Additional homework may also be set on Seesaw.

Spellings

Children will be given spellings every Tuesday for a spelling test on Friday.  The weekly spellings are also posted on Seesaw. Please ensure children are practising their spellings at home during the week.
