All items of clothing and bags should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

Break Snacks

Children are allowed to bring their own snack during break time.

This must consist of a piece of fruit or a healthy biscuit.

Children will also be offered a bagel/toast at breaktime and a piece of fruit during afternoon snack time by the school. We ask for children to bring in water, not juice, in a bottle.

Physical Education

The children have P.E every week on Tuesday and Friday.

Please be aware that PE lessons may change and it is vital your child can take their earrings out independently - staff cannot help with this.

Reading

We ask that children read with a parent/guardian/older sibling a minimum of 3 times a week. Please document any time you read with your child in their reading diary. Your child’s progress will be monitored through comments in reading diaries as well as reading done with the children in school. The children will move through the reading bands when they have acquired the skill to read the books fluently and understand the text confidently.

Seesaw

Seesaw gives students a place to document and celebrate their learning. Please note your children and their grown up have their own individual log in. Two log in's are sent out at the beginning of the school year. If you do not have access, please inform the office.

Each student has their own journal. We encourage them to upload their own independent work or creations in class and we love to see their home learning to. At the end of the year, this will be a wonderful documentation of your child's progress and journey through Year 1.

Phonics Screening

in Year 1, we will have a very important phonics screening.

Phonics plays a vital role in helping us to read, write and spell.

It is important to ensure that we are not only practicing at school every day, but that we are also practicing regularly at home. This can be with our phonics sounds, reading books or helpful words. Our school follows the Floppy Phonics scheme.
